Overwhelm And how to Avoid it.
The Internet is changing every day. Facebook is way different than it was a year ago. The way to put up ads on Facebook is different this year than it will be next year. Knowing that the systems are changing and it’s not you that is stupid will give you the confidence to keep going and learning. We need to be OK with knowing that everything changes.
In the old days, 1900 forward, systems stayed the same for a long time. As boomers we expected a system to be predictable every day. We remember typewriters, the white out and even carbon copies. The development of the facsimile in the 1980s was a huge discovery of convenience that baffled many people. We used the fax system and still do sometimes to send important documents in business. Now we have texting, emailing, scanning and taking a photo of a document with your phone to send anywhere.
Learning a foreign language can be difficult enough while having to learn five at once is overwhelming. That’s what it can feel like creating an online business. Overwhelm is one of the major challenges creating an online business.
We didn’t go to college and graduate in one year. It took most of us 4 to 6 years to get a major degree. Unfortunately in this fast-paced instant society we think that we need to learn basic online components quickly and immediately. Well, for most of us that’s not the case and learning even a basic task can take weeks, months or years. This includes such things as as being effective at blogging or doing YouTube videos or Facebook ads.
Learning how to do basic things online is like going to college without a clear path. There are college courses for online marketing and entrepreneurial studies available online. However, most online marketers prefer to study from professionals who have proven success.
Tips for avoiding overwhelm:
-
Study your subject for an hour, then take a break. During the break your subconscious will be digesting and resonating with what you just learned. Then go back to that subject to study for another hour. I find that studying something for one hour at a time makes the experience more enjoyable.
-
Delegate tasks. I have three assistants that help me with my online tasks. I know I can’t do everything you can possibly learn everything there is to know online that’s why delegate as much as possible.
Just do two or three items per day.
-
Be patient with yourself. You are learning a new language and a new way of life.
-
Surround yourself with people who are in the same type of business you are for support.
Realize that you will have to tackle the Internet one step at a time. If you need help or have comments that you would like to share message me in Facebook. I wish you much success!
