Celebrating Marvin’s 90th Birthday🎉
We had a great time last night.
Close relatives flew in from the mid- West. ✈ The people, the club and all the relatives were in unison.
Surely a night to remember. 🤩
But, this night didn’t almost happen. Marvin’s health has been compromised for the last 15 years.
It was 15 years ago that he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. 😔
In 2003 my folks were at a party and someone said “Marvin looks yellow”. Someone else called 911. He had jaundice. The doctors quickly found out that Marvin had stage 1 pancreatic cancer.
Eric, Marvin’s son next to me in the photo, got on the computer to research pancreatic cancer. He searched for specialists from all over the country who could help him. 👨⚕️
Eric found a specialist in a nearby town who was just starting a new surgery technique for removing pancreatic cancer called the Whipple.
Marvin had the Whipple procedure done a week later. It was successful, but left him a diabetic plus he is prone to cepsis.
Now Marvin has “good days” and “bad days”. Some days it’s difficult for him to get out of bed.
Last night Marvin had a good day( and night). He is on cloud nine after his successful birthday
